Scotland Tidal Turbine

Great to see an edit produced by Stramash films documenting the progress of Orbital Marine’s O2 turbine. I first saw the turbine when it was in the form of a raw steel tube in a shed in Cupar, Scotland. To see it eventually being towed all the way to Orkney from Dundee was quite something!

I helped out with some of the drone, hyperlapse and ground filming.

Anchored in the Fall of Warness at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), where tidal speeds can exceed 3m/s, the O2 will be connected to the local electricity grid and will help power the communities of Orkney cleanly and sustainably from the waters that flow past their islands
